About Us

Since 2006, the Science Undergraduate Society Environment Committee has organized GreenWeek to increase students' awareness and consciousness of the environment. GreenWeek is a week of student-run workshops, events and activities that are both entertaining and informative, but mainly geared towards promoting a culture of sustainability. This year, GreenWeek will take place during the week of March 17th – 21st, 2014.

This year, the GreenWeek team has set a goal to increase a lasting sense of environmental awareness in both SUS and the McGill community. We hope to achieve this by raising money and awareness for Nature Quebec. The committee wanted to give back to the community, which has oriented our choice towards Nature Quebec, a charity dedicated to sustainable projects and eco-friendly development in Montreal and across the province.

Our Charity

The beneficiary of Green Week 2014 is Nature Quebec. This charity is part of a larger network of environmentally related charities called “Nature Canada”. Founded in 1981, its main focus is on preserving both species and ecosystem diversity. Through its network of affiliated organizations, Nature Quebec works towards conservation of nature in Québec through dialogue, awareness and training. Nature Quebec is actively involved in public policy and government programs, ensuring conservation of resources and the environment through analysis and reports that are the bases of public interventions; seeking to spark discussion and motivate towards to common good. Some of Nature Quebec’s important work includes contributing to reforming the law on forests and protection of more than 8 % of Quebec’s territory.

SUSEC is proud to be helping Nature Quebec with their efforts.
